What’s in the Box? 2025 Tv Show Review
The core idea behind What’s in the Box clearly has the potential to become a major TV game show, but that potential is never fully realised. The host does an excellent job, yet even a strong presenter cannot carry the format on their own. Overall, the show feels surprisingly low on tension.
The main issue lies in the game design. The challenges feel conceptually messy and lack a clear sense of structure, relying instead on a sequence of loud, attention-grabbing moments. The focus is almost entirely on short bursts of noise and spectacle, rather than on strategy, logic or meaningful decision-making. As a result, the show comes across as a checklist of tasks being ticked off, without a genuine sense of build-up or depth.
The choice of contestants is also unconvincing. They appear heavily cast and exaggerated in their behaviour. The constant overexcitement and familiar influencer-style performances make it difficult to relate to them. The format would benefit far more from ordinary people with authentic reactions than from calculated loudness.
In its current form, What’s in the Box wastes much of its potential. As a tightly structured, two-hour game show event, the concept would likely have worked far better. What remains is a show with a polished surface, but little in the way of depth, tension or lasting substance.
