Super Troopers 3 2026 Movie Review
As a longtime fan of Broken Lizard’s work, I’ve always appreciated that, like any good writing team, some ideas hit the mark while others don’t quite land. Unfortunately, Super Troopers 3 falls somewhere in between.
The film had the potential to be a solid, funny addition to the franchise. The cast certainly has the talent, and the basic premise could have delivered something worthy of the Super Troopers name. After the disappointment of Super Troopers 2, I went into this one hoping to recapture some of the magic of the original.
For the first half of the film, that magic was nowhere to be found. The opening section is slow, the script feels poorly written, and the laughs are few and far between. It’s frustrating because you can see how much potential this group of actors has, yet they feel largely wasted by the material.
Then, around the halfway point, things finally start to click. The clever banter between the characters begins to shine, the comedy becomes more natural, and the plot finally picks up some much-needed energy. It was during the second half that I found myself enjoying the film and remembering why I liked the original Super Troopers in the first place.
Unfortunately, by the time the credits rolled, my main thought was, I wish that had been better. There were definitely some laughs, particularly in the second half, but the film never manages to fully recover from its weak opening.
Despite my criticisms, I’d still be interested in seeing another Super Troopers film. There’s clearly still chemistry and comedic potential within this cast, and I hope they get another opportunity to deliver the movie fans have been waiting for.
Would I watch Super Troopers 3 again? No. But I did laugh, and I’m still hoping for a Super Troopers 4.
