Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man 2026 Movie Review
The Peaky Blinders have always been a mixed bag for me. With one series being outrageously forgettable, to another series being one of the greatest in all of television, it was always going to be interesting to see where The Immortal Man would sit.
The Immortal Man acts as a swan song for the Shelby Family Saga, focusing on Tommy returning to Birmingham for a “one last job” type exploit.
Cillian Murphy is the stand out. Immediately slipping back into the role as elegantly as his trench coat flaps down the street. He brings more spiritual nuance and melancholy to the “gipsy king” than has been seen previously, but have no fear, the “aura farming” is quick to return – a particular sequence on a horse to go down in infamy on YouTube Shorts I’m sure.
Tragically, though Barry Keoghan and Rebecca Ferguson try their best, notable absences from the original show’s cast permeate, leaving the film feeling like a distinctly separate entity. (Though research shows, the absence of particular actors was unavoidable).
It’s hard to tell what the lasting impact of “The Immortal Man” will be. I am potentially in a minority who believed the final moments of series 6 were a perfect send off for Tommy Shelby. Regardless, The Peaky Blinders has left a strong cultural legacy, and this finale of sorts does not damage that. A statement that is becoming all too rare for many shows these days!
