Apex 2026 Movie Review
Overall, this is a very good action thriller with a tint of horror which delivers stunning visuals, great performances, albeit a slightly formulaic and familiar feeling story.
There is no question that this project will receive a lot of award nominations for cinematography. The locations are amazing, camera work is spectacular and with the aerial and complex underwater sequences, it garners a strong 10/10 for its visuals.
The acting is also very well done. Charlize Theron has never been one to disappoint here and while I’m not familiar with Taron Egertons’s previous work, he certainly fit the bill quite well in this production.
The pacing is fast with lots of action sequences and the film carries this momentum throughout, pausing only to set for key plot points. And honestly, it’s good that it does have these strong points because the downside is of all this is the film does suffer from being predictable and formulaic. It’s certainly not the first time we’ve seen this basic plot. The film does seem to lean into this as normally I would have felt that too much was given away in the trailer.
So overall, the acting and visuals and pacing will serve for most of the heavy lifting and while the plot is on the lighter side, it’s good enough to serve its purpose.
7/10 would certainly recommend.
