André Is an Idiot 2026 Movie Review
I took a risk on an Alamo Drafthouse “Mystery Machine” movie where you literally buy a ticket for a movie knowing absolutely nothing about what you age going to see, not the title, not the genre, not the rating, NOTHING.
Well this movie is definitely well suited for the Mystery Machine because I can’t imagine anyone choosing to go see this movie based on what it is about. I know I would have never on a million years have chosen to go see it if I knew it was a documentary or what it was about.
That said, I would have missed an excellent film. Not in a “oh that was awesome” kinda way, but more “oh that was terrible to watch, completely heart wrenching, totally depressing and yet so heartwarming, authentic, funny, emotional and poignantly powerful.
The title of the movie is accurate, he was an idiot and so is anyone else that doesn’t learn from the huge mistake he made which cost him his live and his family the joy of him being in theirs longer.
This movie was truly awful, but in all the best ways. It was awful watching what appears to have been a genuinely wonderful, funny and kind sole wither away before your eyes in full view of his family and friends who obviously adored him and will clearly miss having him in theirs lives. It was awful also because it was so unnecessary and preventable. The filmmaking was not awful, it was brilliant, the storytelling was entertaining and powerful. The message was spot on and delivered clearly yet with a smile.
Don’t be an idiot like Andre, learn from his mistake, watch the movie and expect an emotional rollercoaster and lots of laughter and tears along the way. Come out of the movie smarter and take action to avoid being Andre 2.0.
