Bait is an absolute masterpiece the smartest, funniest, and most electrifying show I’ve watched in a while!
Riz Ahmed has done it again. In Bait, he not only stars as the brilliantly flawed Shah Latif but also creates and writes this sharp six-episode gem that hooks you from the very first frame. What starts as a chaotic audition for the next James Bond spirals into a wild, surreal ride through fame, identity, ambition, family, and the soul-crushing pressures of the entertainment industry. It’s equal parts Uncut Gems-style anxiety, Fleabag fourth-wall-breaking wit, and pure British-Pakistani heart.
Ahmed’s performance is phenomenal – vulnerable, hilarious, and heartbreaking all at once. The supporting cast is fire, especially Guz Khan who steals every scene he’s in with perfect comic timing. The direction, the crash zooms, the killer soundtrack, and those gloriously absurd moments make this feel fresh and cinematic even on the small screen.
In just half-hour episodes, Bait manages to be a biting satire on race, representation, and the cost of “making it” while still delivering genuine emotion and laugh-out-loud moments. It left me shaken, stirred, and desperate for a Season 2.
