Riot Women 2026 Tv Show Review

The concept of this show is fantastic. A group of women in later life wanting to push back on the rubbish that the world has and continues to serve them by forming a rock band has so much scope.

Every lead character is well drawn and acted superbly – I’m interested in every single aspect of what they each are going through and the comedic/heartfelt moments are wonderful.

But I have to say, the complete cartoon-like negative characterisation of literally every single male character is just so distracting. Every male character is either limp and ineffectual or downright ‘Andrew Tate’ levels of evil.

Three episodes in, every male character that comes on has me rolling my eyes with a ‘here we go again’ reaction and this bad writing is so unfair on the lead characters – they have a story that deserves and needs to be told, so that it impacts properly on those of us watching who are male.

It should be entertaining first and make me wonder what I could be doing more to support menopausal women second. But actually it’s entertaining and then grating to the point it unbalances the show’s message, significantly reducing it’s power.

How about a male character who desperately wants to support his wife/partner but doesn’t really know how, Sally?!

How about putting a character in who is male and feminist?!! We do exist, you know!
