No Tail to Tell 2026 Tv Show Review

Episode 1 of No Tail to Tell begins in the Joseon era. Like every nine-tailed fox, Eun-ho wants to cultivate virtue by doing good deeds and become human. Her best friend turns human and is planning to marry her beloved. However, on the day of her wedding, Eun-ho sees her future – her friend faces much hardship and suffering for the rest of her life. Due to this, Eun-ho starts seeing human lives as fragile, full of suffering and worthless. She no longer wants to be human.

It cuts to the present time. She barely blinks as a man is tied up and bleeding to death.

The actual story begins 9 years ago. Hyeon Woo-seok is a rich and skilled high school student who is about to be scouted by the youth national football team. However, his classmate, Kang Si-yeol steals the spotlight. Since the Hyeons contribute to the school, the coach punishes Si-yeol for messing up Woo-seok’s chances. We see that Si-yeol is poor and lives with his ailing grandmother. He pretends to have a scholarship and pays for his expenses by doing part-time food deliveries. No one knows and when Woo-seok finds out, he is shocked.

As for Eun-ho, she has started to grant wishes to rich people for an exorbitant fee. Her latest target is CEO Lee Yoon of the corrupt Geumsu Construction. In fact, he beats up his driver and fires him for switching off the radio. Before he can bribe his way to a redevelopment project, Eun-ho takes the money and rigs the vote in his favour. She then takes him on as her client. However, she has some rules. She will only fulfil the wishes she wants. She will never do a good deed or major misdeed in case it turns her human or strips her power, respectively.

Next, Eun-ho goes shopping by compelling a stylish girl to accompany her. She ends up ranting about the misconceptions of her kind and how she is the only one left. She shares how she spent the centuries using her powers and manipulating people to keep herself entertained. When the girl comments that Eun-ho has never accomplished anything, the fox is offended.

At the store next door, Woo-seok tries to buy Si-yeol new shoes. Si-yeol doesn’t want to be a charity case and tries to storm off. However, he bumps into Eun-ho and falls due to her superstrength. He is hurt but he ends up worrying about her. She is her arrogant self and he simply apologises.

As he and Woo-seok leave, Eun-ho sees the future. She points to one of the boys and claims he will be extremely famous and rich. She considers making him her client so she can take his money. She rudely dismisses the girl when, suddenly, a supernatural stranger calls her a beast. He is Lord Pagun and he has a warning from Heaven. She has been loopholing for too long and now, her scale is tipping. Soon, she will have to choose between becoming human or getting annihilated. Eun-ho scoffs at the warning and walks off.

Outside, Woo-seok apologises to Si-yeol and they patch up by playing football. Eun-ho is walking home when Si-yeol kicks the ball too far and hits her. Woo-seok heads home while Si-yeol goes to retrieve the ball. Instead, he finds an annoyed Eun-ho.

They bicker and as she looks down on him, he insists he will be famous one day. She reveals that it is Woo-seok who will be famous; it is his future she saw. And the future she sees is inevitable and unchangeable.

At the crossing, a drunk CEO Lee Yoon hits Woo-seok with his car. Si-yeol rushes to save his friend while Lee drives off. Wanting justice, Si-yeol reports to the police and refuses to accept Lee’s scapegoat. Annoyed, Lee calls Eun-ho for his next wish. For double her fee, she is to manipulate Si-yeol’s memory of the incident.

She goes to Woo-seok’s hospital room and smirks at Si-yeol when she recognises him. As she goes to change his memory, she sees a different future. His fate has been switched with Woo-seok’s. Si-yeol will end up being the famous player. She falls down in pain and he catches her. Her tails are revealed.

The Episode Review

No Tail to Tell Episode 1 is an interesting beginning to this K-drama. Not much happens in this episode progression-wise but it spends some much-needed time with our complicated female protagonist. Eun-ho is not a fun, snarky anti-hero that we’d root for regardless. There is nothing redeemable about her. However, can see how the writers are going to peel back the layers till she becomes likeable and more well-rounded.

It also does help that she’s portrayed by an actress who has the bubbly, charming persona down to a tee. Hye-yoon has always come through, even with challenging roles like the one in SKY Castle and Snowdrop. So, we are excited to see how she handles Eun-ho.

However, the show does need to put in some work for Si-yeol. Poor guy doesn’t have much going on in the story and in terms of characterization. Lomon has potential which peeks through only when he is in action dramas. So, it will be interesting to see if he can turn around his curse of average rom-coms.
